It's September again, and it is starting to change to fall in most of the country. For some, that signals the change of seasons; leaves changing color, afternoon temperatures becoming the highlight of the day, the smell of autumn signaling the coming of the holiday season. For others, it signals the upcoming winter season; shoveling out cars, sand and salt on the roads, layering clothes. It can also mean increased risks to both health and safety to those most vulnerable to the effects of cold. After last winter, a lot of people living in these regions might be thinking it is time to move to a more hospitable climate. Well, Savannah, GA is home to many who have already made that decision.

The temperatures in Savannah, GA for winter are more than just enjoyable, they are livable. The average highs throughout the winter do not dip below 60 degrees even in January, our coldest month, and the coldest month also has an overnight low of 38 degrees. This means, yes, that without dipping below 30 degrees, it would become a novelty and not a burden to wake up and see snow (although snow here is so rare that many have not seen any, and if they have it has been only a light flurry or dusting).

The sunshine state may be Florida, but with more than 50% sunshine hours available throughout the year, Savannah might be a close contender. If you have already dug in for another winter, plan a trip down to Savannah this season and see how we spend our winter days. After you plan your trip, make sure to contact Southbridge Reality so you can view some beautiful homes while you are here and begin to plan your following winter to be spent here in the Coastal Low Country.
